I’ve spent a lot of time clicking around Amazon in search of the perfect finds to help me with my various home projects over the years, whether it’s for a DIY project, like this DIY pleated lampshade or my downstairs bathroom renovation, or just trying to find a way to simplify my routine and keep the home running smoothly! My favorite home hacks are definitely cleaning hacks—what’s better than finding out that a tedious or daunting task can be way easier than you thought if only you had the right product?
I’ve shared many of my favorite cleaning and repair tips on Instagram but not all of them have made it to the blog! So today I wanted to share some really handy (and affordable) house cleaning hacks that have helped me with the task at hand. Sometimes just a proper cleaning or a quick cosmetic fix will give a room a completely refreshed look—no need to buy more décor!
Top 7 Cleaning Hacks for the Home
Cordless Spin Scrubber with Extendable Handle
Tile and grout cleaning can be brutal but this cordless spin scrubber comes with 7 different attachments to scrub different surfaces like bathrooms, tile, grout, grills, stove tops, sinks, windows, dishes, and so much more! It’s truly one of the best cleaning hacks for the home. The kit includes two handle extenders so I can scrub the shower without having to bend or kneel, and it is so easy to switch between attachments to get into corners and crevices! I used it in my shower with a little bit of dish soap, and it completely cleaned all of the built up soap scum and water stains! It has been the best addition to my cleaning kit, and I know you will love it just as much as I do.
When I shared this on Instagram, the comments were all either, “I need this!” or, “I have and LOVE this!” so you know it’s good! See the video here.
All-in-One Hole Filler
Have small holes to repair? This $7 product can repair up to 3” holes without you needing to go through the whole spackling process! It is a primer, spackle, putty knife, and sanding pad all in one! Yes, there are tons of products out there that help fill in holes, but this one is by far my favorite.
Handheld Vacuum
A while back, I did a handheld vacuum comparison featuring the popular Shark handheld vacuum because I wanted to see if it lived up to the hype. Both work great and seem to be powerful. They would be great for those hard to reach places in your home or car. They are both lightweight and easy to work. The Shark seems to have a higher quality filter.
Honestly, they were both great products, though unfortunately the off-brand version is now out of stock. But the bottom line is: Every home needs a good handheld vacuum in addition to your regular one! Handheld vacuums have come such a long way, you just want to get one that’s narrow and compact enough to fit in small spaces, but still powerful enough for a good clean.
Slim Outlet Plug
No more going around the house, tucking miscellaneous cords behind shelves before guests arrive. Not only does it hide unsightly cords, this slim outlet cover is perfect to use behind furniture and makes using the plug so much easier. It allows furniture to be pushed up flush with the wall without damaging any cords!
Mop/Vacuum Combo
A mop and a vacuum in one! The Tineco Wet Dry Vaccuum Mop (reviewed here) literally mops while vacuuming. It’s a cleaning game changer and worth the investment—especially if you have pets and/or kids. It’s easy to fill with water and soap and just as easy to discard when done. Perfect for kitchen floors! If you’re looking for house cleaning tips or products that get the job done while actually saving you time, this is it.
Paint Touch Up Pen
One of my top reels on Instagram, this paint touch up pen is an Amazon must have that I have used all too often! Whether you have chipped paint around corners or trim, scuffs that won’t come out, or made a mistake when repainting a wall, this pen has you covered. It is like a syringe with a brush attachment—simply fill it with a bit of paint from your paint can, twist, and touch up! I fill these and keep them in the room with the matching paint. Make sure to label so you remember color and finish.
Quake Hold
This is the best Amazon home hack for keeping décor safely in its place! Quake Hold is a museum putty we use to hold all of our lamps and breakables. This non-damaging putty can be used on a variety of surfaces. Genius for those with little ones running around! No more broken lamps in our house.
