Our Shared Boys’ Room Reveal

As you may have seen via Instagram, our family is official complete! Baby Callum is here and we couldn’t be happier. In preparation, we’ve been working on combining our two older sons’ bedrooms into one shared boys room, so we can give Callum a proper nursery just like his brothers had. And we finished it just in time!

Revealing Our Boys’ Shared Bedroom

You may remember Wells’ big boy room from this post a while back. Wells is almost 6 years old and James is now 3, so we had to make it work for kids a few years apart. I wanted the look of a custom and classic boys bedroom design… but on an Amazon budget, of course. To do so, we relied on tried and true pieces such as bedding favorites that we already loved, as well as new boys bedroom furniture and some fun decor that would make the transition easier for the two of them.

OUR SHARED BOYS ROOM DESIGN

For the design, it made the most sense to keep the same classic style we had for Wells (which you can tour here), but rework it to function with two instead of one. Since James was ready to transition from his toddler space to a little boys room, he got to upgrade to this more “grown up” design! Below I’ll call out a few of my favorite details of the bedroom makeover and share lots of links for you to shop if a shared boys room is a project you’re working on too. You can also see my full shopping list for this space over on LTK.

These stools are the perfect woven accent. I think this is the only retailer you can find them from online at the moment.

The Headboard

I chose to elevate the space with custom matching headboards from Coley Home for their beds, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. This is the Crown headboard with a custom dark blue fabric and white piping. It’s actually a slipcover! Coley Home offers 80 different fabrics to choose from and many styles so you can really make it your own.

This waffle weave blanket and quilt set are both 100% cotton. I’ve been impressed by the quality of these bedding pieces (see the comparison with other brands here) and the boys love them too. I have the same waffle weave blanket in white and it has held up so well. They both come in all sizes and multiple colors at a great price point! Shop all of the bedding, including the mattress and bedskirt, below:

Since the matching bedding created a cohesive design in the room, I wanted to personalize each bed a bit. I ordered James the same custom appliqué name pillow from Etsy that we already had in Wells’ bedroom. You can choose from a variety of fonts, colors, and designs to create the personalized pillow you want. I love a classic look, so elegant lettering in my blue, red, and white color scheme was a no brainer.

This framed wall art from Pottery Barn was another fun detail to customize to their interests and I love that it was ready to hang.

I hope you enjoyed our boys bedroom makeover! You can also see a video from this room tour over on my Instagram. Now, here is to hoping they will both get some sleep being together.
