I love the touch of greenery that faux flowers and plants bring into my home! Below, I am sharing the most realistic artificial stems that I’ve found, and how easy they are to work with. By purchasing different types of faux stems, you can blend some together to create a pretty little arrangement, or even mix into a fresh bouquet and no one will know the difference. I’m also sharing which faux greenery stems look great on their own and the best Amazon vases to pair them with. Lastly, if you’re looking for artificial plants that look great outdoors, I’m sharing my favorite fake ferns. Happy (faux) planting!

These faux cherry blossom stems are one of my favorites for spring! The stems are easy to bend into different directions and the blossoms are individually placed on, making them look super realistic.

I arranged these faux roses with my favorite eucalyptus stems. They look so natural as an arrangement you would think they were sold together!

BAMBOO STEMS

These bamboo branches are very tall and airy, making them great for a large table or shelf. As with all faux stems, you can create a look that’s lighter or more lush depending on how many you incorporate in one arrangement.

Real Touch Hydrangeas

Fresh hydrangeas, while beautiful, are notoriously finicky, so I always opt for faux here. These are absolutely the most realistic faux hydrangeas that I’ve ever seen! They even feel real. These look great on their own but are also awesome to mix in with some real stems - you would be the only one to know they are fake.

Faux Tulips

I love these tulip stems for spring and summer. They are so realistic and look great in many different style vases! I love them so much I even included them in my top 20 Amazon products to try this year!

I typically purchase my stems separately from their vases so I can customize the look (rather than purchasing faux flowers in vases like some stores offer). This gives you so many options for elevating the look. Shop my favorite Amazon vases here!

My Favorite Faux Plants & Trees

my first olive Tree

Struggling to find houseplants for low light areas such as your downstairs living areas? I opted for this large olive tree which I added to a decorative pot, and have no regrets. I love that with artificial trees you can swap out pots as often as you’d like to change the whole look - no mess required! I originally had this one in our dining room, but moved it downstairs in this space since I was wanting something a little taller upstairs.

I get a lot of questions about my 10’ faux olive tree, and here’s where I found it! There is also a 6’ and 7’ option available. This is so beautiful and realistic looking! See more photos here.

Faux Ferns

I’ve been searching for a good faux fern option for the longest time! It’s so difficult to find a good fake, but these are amazing. I ordered two different options to test out, and these look so much more realistic. They’re close to the price that I would pay for real ferns, but these won’t die if I forget to water them!

How to Arrange Faux Stems

I love decorating with artificial plants and flowers so naturally I’ve gotten a lot of questions about them. If you’ve never decorated with fake flowers or plants before, you might be worried about them looking too fake. All of my picks above are the most realistic products I’ve found, but it’s also important to arrange them properly to get that natural look. Made with a plastic-wrapped wire, faux stems are easy to bend into the shapes you want. They will often be delivered to you flat or bundled tightly together, so you need to manipulate them a bit to get it looking right, separating leaves and bending branches (just like you would with a fake Christmas tree). Gently bend in different directions and angles, as you would see with fresh blooms. Asymmetry is key here - nature isn’t perfect!

How to Clean Faux Stems

Another common question people ask is, how do I clean faux stems? Your answer—they are very easy to clean!

There’s very little upkeep, but to keep them looking fresh you’ll want to give them a good dusting every now and then. A feather duster works well here, or you can use a hair dryer on a low/cool setting to blow off the dust. If it doesn’t come off right away or you find small stains/marks you want to get rid of, a damp cloth usually does the trick - just make sure not to douse the stems in water as they are usually made with an iron wire. If you have any spills to address, a gentle cleaning solution usually works, but be sure to spot check first!
