Our Modern Neutral Bedroom Designs

At the end of last year, we happened upon a farm property not too far outside of our hometown that was for sale with the most gorgeous views and space for the boys to run and play. With two, three bedroom cabins nestled on the land, we have a lot of rooms to design! I got straight to dreaming up neutral bedroom ideas that would make the space inviting and cozy for both our family and guests.

We were so excited to start using the cabins and have visitors join us right away. The creek that is just a stone’s throw from the main house provides endless entertainment and we hope to enjoy this home away from home for many years to come.

We luckily didn’t have to do a ton of updating throughout the houses and I knew I wanted to keep a neutral palette while bringing in accent pieces. I wanted to mix some older pieces I own with some new for a warm and comforting feel. I sourced as many in stock, quick ship items as I could to help make the spaces come to life relatively fast. A Quick Peek At Our Living Areas

The new farmhouse is filled with long walls just waiting to be adorned, so I quickly began my search for some larger scale wall art to make the place feel more lived-in. I appreciate the added texture and color that a large piece of wall art or an oversized tapestry wall hanging can provide. Would you believe me if I told you the tapestry above is under $175?! I also purchased another one of these tried and true natural fiber area rugs that I have owned and loved for years. They not only look great, they are also durable enough for all the high traffic of busy little feet.

I added another affordable tapestry from Anthropologie in quick eyesight as you walk in the front door. Its natural tones really set the mood for the room. I paired my favorite green velvet pillows from Etsy in the chairs beneath alongside this under $100 gingham ottoman from Target. Now, onto what we did to create our neutral bedroom designs…

Creating Our Own Neutral Bedroom Designs

While we decided on a bunk room for the boys, I knew we wanted a classic yet still modern look in each of the other bedrooms. We chose to do king beds in each of these rooms and I had such fun mixing and matching the bedding and pillows to help make them come to life. Most of the items I ordered came from Amazon, but there are a few pieces from Target, Wayfair and TJ Maxx that I enjoyed sourcing as well. I was able to use the same duvet cover set in each room, but picked out a few of my favorite quilt sets to help make them stand apart. All of the pillow covers I ordered were $50 or less, and provided a nice pop against the neutral bedding!

This entire bedroom almost all came from Amazon and I love how it turned out! I ordered another one of my favorite cowhide rugs as well as the best budget friendly quilt set that we also have in the boy’s room at home.

accent pillows + BEDDING

When I stumbled upon this under $100 rattan lamp, I knew it was a must have! Adding textures like rattan are a great way to add interest to a neutral room design without increasing the color.

I also love bringing in wooden tones through the home. This bachelor chest I’m using as the side tables is an under $300 find that looks much more expensive! Unfortunately it is already sold out, but there are still a lot of great neutral chests out there to pick from.

Neutral bedroom Furniture and Decor

Decorating with neutrals doesn’t have to be boring! When it comes to our bedroom designs, I love how warm and welcoming they are turning out to be. I’ll keep you posted on my progress as we transform this new space into a true home away from home. In the meantime, shop my favorite neutral decor pieces below!
